&TextStrings=Hello and welcome!|10_Q LITE is an e-Learning program. In this slide show we will show you how to use it.
Let’s start with the ‘Frames’ group. Like other function groups, it consists of 2 arrow buttons and 2 text boxes in-between.
You click the right arrow button to go to the next slide, or frame; the left arrow button takes you to the previous one.
The number in the left text box tells you which frame you are currently on; the number in the right box shows how many frames the presentation contains.|Please remember:
1. A slide show may contain up to 20 frames. So, the highest value you can see in the right text box is 20.
2. You can quicky move to any frame which contains data. For example, type ‘9’ in the left text box and click the right arrow button, or type ‘11’ and click the left arrow button to go to frame 10 from any point in a slide show.|Task: Type ‘9’ in the ‘Frames’ left text box after ‘1’, so that it reads ‘19’, and click the right arrow button.|After fulfilling the task – navigating straight to frame 20 and then back, please click the right arrow button to go to the next frame!| ↓|

&TextStrings=Concordancer tool.|Several interesting and useful tools are built into 10_Q LITE, and one of these is the Concordancer. A simple definition of a concordancer would be ‘an advanced text search engine’ but we’ll try to add a few details.
With its help you can conduct a computerized search for the occurrences of a word or phrase in a text; the longer the text document, the better. The results are conveniently shown on the screen, with the keyword in the center. So, you can look for collocations that the keyword forms with neighbouring lexical elements. If you enter a root word in the search box, you may find various derivatives.|Task: Open the ‘readme.txt’ file in the Concordancer page and conduct searches with the words suggested in the above text field!|After fulfilling the task, please click the right arrow button of the Frames group to go to the next frame!|||

&TextStrings=Tests. Free form test.|The Free Form (FF) test of the 10_Q LITE program meets the above requirements. Depending on the task, you are prompted how to provide an answer: using A-D check boxes (for Multiple choice/response questions), ‘T’, ‘F’, and ‘N’ buttons (for True/False exercises), of a text field for other activities. The weight, or difficulty level, is indicated for each question.|Please make sure that a PDF reader is installed on your computer if files in this format are to be used in a FF test. In case you are not happy with your answer, you may delete it and start all over again.|There are 2 ‘Save’ buttons, and you have to choose in which audio format to save your oral answer: ‘wav’ or ‘mp3’. Test scores in points and percentages.|Having completed an exercise at test time and clicked ‘Submit’, you come to a Results page to see which questions were answered correctly – they will be marked with a green ‘Tick’ symbol, and how many points the exercise will add to the final score. At the end of the test, you get a much fuller picture. Apart from details, such as starting and finishing times, name and date of the test, etc., some percentages are calculated on the bases of the results from exercises checked by the computer: the ratio of the number of correct answers to the number of all questions (we call this Success rate); and the ratio of the points gained to the maximum score (this is referred to as Achievement rate).|Your speaking and/or writing task responses (if any) are saved on the hard disk for the teacher to check and assess. After this is done, your Extended test points will be added to your score and the computer will perform a second calculation of Success and Achievement rates. Ask your teacher to show you the final results, which may also contain comments on the Extended test.|After reading the notes, please go to the next frame!|After a test, learners wish to see as few red ‘X’ signs as possible (10_Q LITE doesn’t mark wrong answers with these!), but rather high overall scores or grades for their performance. &TextStrings=Tests. ‘Related’ tests and presentations.
A presentation as ‘additional content’.|Either of the above scenarios suggests that the 2 e-Learning products are somehow connected. In the program, we use the word ‘related’ to describe a connection of this type. In the first example, we would say that the test is related to the slide show; in the second example, the slide show is related to the test. In most cases, however, both products are related to each other. Related products must share a Project and a Support folder. This also applies to the parts of 2-part slide shows. A slide show can be related to 1 test only, and vice versa. A Project folder may contain several e-Learning products, which means that they will all share one Support folder.|You may have noticed that in Paragraph 1 above, we used the name ‘10_Q LITE’ with regard to tests, and just ‘10_Q’ when referring to slide shows. The explanation is as follows: slide show files are in readable, unencrypted form for all versions of the program; test files, however, are in readable form for the licensed version – 10_Q, but are encrypted for 10_Q LITE!|After reading the notes, please go to the next frame!|You already know that you can do an exercise from a 10_Q LITE test as a comprehension check while running a 10_Q presentation, and you have probably seen already how it works.
